THE METHOD

How the finder works

What makes a system a fit?

We estimate how much force you need to start uphill and how much power it takes to keep climbing. We use your loaded weight, gearing and rider effort, then compare those estimates with published motor limits. A shortfall at a published limit rules out that setup for the scenario. A system that clears the estimate still needs a loaded test.

Which suppliers are included?

The draft compares a curated U.S. shortlist from Bosch, Shimano, Yamaha (Giant SyncDrive), and Bafang. The catalog includes selected mid-drives from each supplier. System availability and service depend on the exact bike, trike, dealer, or kit.

What should I confirm before buying?

Ask the seller to confirm frame and drivetrain fit, the finished vehicle’s load rating, a matched battery and charger, and local service. For conversions, have an installer check the bottom bracket, frame, chainline and brakes. Check the exact assist settings and riding rules where you plan to use it.
